Her musical inspirations at a young age were Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and Albert Collins. In 2002, Dave Stewart asked her to join his supergroup, which was called D.U.P. when they toured Europe. 2009 saw the release of her first album White Sugar, which was put out by Ruf Records. She has also played shows alongside Candye Kane, an American singer songwriter. Also via the same label, her next album was called Diamonds in the Dirt and released in 2010. That same year, she picked up an award for Best Female Vocalist at the British Blues Awards. Both of her albums went to number eight in the US Billboard Top Blues Albums chart, and in 2011 she picked up a further two awards at the British Blues Awards. These were Songwriter of the Year for the track “Same As It Never Was” and Best Female Vocalist. She also performed with Annie Lennox’s band as lead guitarist at the Diamond Jubilee Concert in London in 2012. During the same year, she released her third album, Almost Always Never and in 2013 Songs From The Road came out. Joanne Shaw Taylor has been making waves on the blues scene from a young age and still has a lot more to give. Be sure to see her in concert soon before she becomes an even bigger success and tickets become even harder to get hold of.
